You can ask anyone who knows me, that I HATE Public Restrooms with a passion. I think they are “grody” and I discourage use of them unless absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, with two kids potty trained, and one “trying”, it is virtually impossible to go out (anywhere) without hearing “Mom, I have to go potty”. Ugh! I always get a little grouchy and tell them they have to wait until we get home, because I told them to go before we left! I always get the infamous “Well I didn’t have to go then” answer and I roll my eyes. Off to the bathroom we go, only to find the family bathroom is being occupied (no doubt by someone NOT with kids) and so we get all of our personal stuff and unload all the kids and go into the bathroom. You inevitably find at least one stall that you just want to run away from (ewwww) and a couple of others that look like they have gone a week without cleaning (although that is not the case) and you may be lucky enough to find one or two that are actually not to bad…although you KNOW they are still covered in germs. I love that most places nowadays provide you with the toilet seat covers. These work great for me, but my kids have yet to realize just how dirty toilets are and so they inadvertently grab the side of the toilet when trying to wipe, or put their hand on the seat when reaching to flush the toilet, etc etc. I used to cringe and be like ICK! and wash their hands for 3 minutes afterwards.
Then I heard about PottyCover‘s. These are a Disposable Toilet Seat Cover For Kids! What is so special? you might ask…well, here are the biggest points:
- It is a very large cover that not only covers the seat, but all the way down the front and half way on the sides! This eliminates a very large portion of the germs that they could collect while going potty.
- It is made of heavy-duty non-woven fabric that is coated with a layer of plastic! This not only creates a waterproof barrier for the child, but also is very durable and doesn’t rip easily like the ones already in the stall.
- They are individually wrapped, so you don’t have to worry about the whole stack falling out onto the floor when you are trying to get one out. Just grab the small pack out of the bag and you are good to go!
I will never agin have to argue with my kids about using the restroom (at least because I don’t think it’s clean enough, it is still inconvenient when I am alone with all the kids, lol). The PottyCover has simplified my life a lot! If you only have one kid or you are a grandma it doesn’t matter. An opportunity to use a PottyCover will present itself, be sure you are prepared! They are priced great and well worth it to have peach of mind! Check them out at:
