I just started a new series of post, called Fun Free Weekend.

This week I am going to talk about down town Salt Lake City. I know there is tons to do there that is free, but this week I am going to highlight just two of the places: Gateway Mall and Ensign Peak Trail. The restaurant this week is Arctic Circle.

The Gateway Mall is located at 18 North Rio Grand Street. (west of the Energy Solutions Arena). The reason why I am adding Gateway Mall to this post is because this weekend they are having the 7th Annual Brazilian Festival there on Saturday from 1pm-7pm. My husband spent two years in Brazil on a LDS mission so he loves to go to this. They music is great, the food is amazing and the environment is awesome! It is a great way to introduce your kids to a different culture. They have the fountain running still, so you can take your kiddos in some clothes they can get wet in and let them play in the water. Once you are done hanging out there, head over to the next place…Ensign Peak Trail!

Ensign Peak trail is one of my favorite places to go in downtown! It has amazing trails, as well as beautiful lookout points that let you see the whole valley. The best time of day to go is to get there about an hour before sundown and watch the sunset over the valley. Its truly beautiful!

For a great place to get a FREE/Inexpensive meal or Snack this week I am going to pick Arctic Circle! They have just released a great set of coupons (which you can get in the restaurant, just ask before ordering for their latest coupons!) And with those you can get Hamburgers for $0.75 each, small frys for only $0.50, corn dogs for only $0.75 and a bunch of other stuff. Like I said before, we only usually order water to save money, plus its a great opportunity to get the kids to drink it! Another reason I love going there, is most of them have a play land. My kids love that! The best reason though, is because they give you complimentary Ice Cream cones with every purchase! Last time we went we were able to get one for each member of our family, plus they dipped it in chocolate…and it was at no additional cost. They are not full size, but they are still great for the younger kids to satisfy their sweet tooth, and its a great little “topper” to the meal. There is an Arctic Circle in downtown at 135 East and 900 South. So everything is just right there in a small driving distance! If you go to any of these places, please come back and let us know how your trip was. I would love to know!
