My name is Coralie. I am a stay at home mother of three and a half (6 year old, 4 year old, 18 month old and one on the way). I have my own home-based business (www.serightdesigns.com), that I spend time on, and that helps some. That hardest part was when my husband got pay cuts and insurance increases a in April of 2010, we really had to start cutting back, ALOT. We were alredy spending more than we could really afford, and credit card debt climbed a little at a time. I knew things were not going in the right direction and I wasn’t happy with our overall finacial situation. I wasn’t sure exactly what to do, since it would be a long term thing, and we were already on a tight budget. After talking to some of my friends about what they suggested, they couldn’t stop talking about coupons.
I have used coupons in the past, here and there mostly at wal-mart, but I wasn’t a “couponer”. I decided to REALLY try it. I read a lot of things, got myself familiar with procedures and what to expect. Around this time I heard that Smith’s was doing a ’rounding up’ event, so I wanted to try my new found knowledge out and make a trip. I spent about 3 hours getting everything together (this was my first trip) and got up the next morning and headed out! Almost everything I planned on was still there so I was super excited. By the time I got to the checkout I had my entire cart almost overflowing, and the bottom rack full too. I got up to the checkout, with my hand full (literally a big stack) of coupons waiting. The total came to somewhere around $350. I smiled, (my heart beating a little fast at this time, wondering if I did it right). I swiped my Fresh Values card, watched as everything came off, and then handed over my coupons. When things were said and done I ended up paying about $80! And I got back a catalina to make the savings even greater! The people behind me were encouraging and excited as was the cashier, and that, along with the great trip, completely addicted me to couponing! Needless to say I have completely changed the way I look at things now. Our budget is still tight, but we are making it work, and we don’t stress about money anymore. It is so nice to have things back under control. The very best part of this, is that not only do we have what we need now, but also have a storage built up. We are actually able to get more, (more to use and more to put into our storage) than we were able to before when we were spending twice as much a month!
If you haven’t tried coupons before, NOW is the time to start. You will never regret it! I didn’t realize that it was such a good thing. You hear the stories all the time (about people getting things for pennies or for free), and I thought, ehh, that only happens once in while…BOY WAS I WRONG. It CAN happen almost EVERY TIME you go shopping, with a little planning and some compromise. So I made this site to share with you my success with coupons and hope to inspire you to start saving as well.
